| Winter brings a completely new environment to discover in the Quebec city area. Although you maybe hard pressed to find any other tourists, you will find the locals much more open to conversation and to sharing their city. If you are looking for some peaceful, quality time for your family, work group or religious study group. "Chez Daniel" in winter is just what the doctor ordered! |

WARNING: If you care about your life please STAY OFF the river ice pack, although it may look flat, stable and adventurous, it's actually a mass of Ocean tide generated, ever-changing (fall in-between) ice floes. It's easy to tell where to stop. The tree line is as close as you want toget to the waterfront in winter. |
For general info, please go to the main page or click here. Keep in mind that there is only 2 weeks for the Xmas holidays and i usually get over 8-14 requests for those weeks. First come first serve. (If i don't take'em myself). Usually books quite quickly in the year before.

Chez Daniel in winter.
The land in front of the house, that road is used for sliding down with crazy carpets and whatever suits your fancy.
View from the back of the house, you can also slide on the right side and you end up sometimes passed the yellow cabin.
Some activities along the way.
Mont Ste-Anne ski hill, about 1 hour's drive away. Lots of x-ski too.
Massif du Sud ski hill, my favorite runs, off limit tree runs, Yea!! About 40 minutes away from the house. telemark and x-cross also.
Snow mobiling .
Please ride responsibly: No drinking & driving, respect other's property and watch your speed/noise levels when close to houses. (FCMQ)
A place to see when snowmobiling around the area (Massif du Sud).
On a track in the area near the house after a snowfall with your truly (again)
A short take on top of Mt-Magloir during a heavy snowfall while riding during the week. Amazing ride! Emilie's first snowmobile ride and first time to see sticky snow, snow depth at this spot was over 6 feet deep packed.

Quebec city in Winter
Chateau Frontenac in winter, just as magnificient and so peaceful.

Ice canoe racing competition during the Carnaval de Quebec.
Warnings:
Where not to go, looks nice but stay away.

Although it may look nice, this is black ice on the road, one jerk of the steering wheel or too much hard braking and you're in the snow bank, usually no damages but really annoying and expensive for towing. Drive slower and plan your driving. If you do get intimate with the ditch, flag someone down and ask for help. (Usually a drive to the nearest garage to pull you out.) Keep your cell phone fully charged and call me if you really can't figure out what to do next.
